The Long Days of Hanau

by Fabian Ritter
The racist attack of 19 February 2020 in Hanau, Hessen, shook German society nationwide. The photo essay „The Long Days of Hanau“ accompanies friends and relatives of those murdered in Hanau after the tragic incident: while an entire city is still in shock at the end of February, solidarity groups and initiatives develop in the coming months to support the survivors of the attack in Hanau. The phase of mourning develops into a phase of anger and the desire for change. The photographic work provides intimate access to the families and friends affected, who have all lost important people in their lives.
